Planning Ahead - Leeds City Health Care Professionals

This training is suitable for clinicians wanting to become a new ReSPECT signatory, and for existing signatories who would like an update. The fully funded course includes:-

This training is mapped to the NHS England Career Pathway Core Capabilities and Education Framework for Palliative and End of Life Care. 

  • Overview of Advance Care Planning (including the legal framework & What Matters To Me).
  • ReSPECT – what it is and the process.
  • CPR/DNACPR Decision Making.

Advanced Communication Skills Training - Primary Care

This training is suitable for Senior Clinicians working in the Primary Care Team.

Do you have discussions with patients who are planning ahead, including conversations about ReSPECT and end of life care? Are you an existing ReSPECT signatory who has not attended advanced communication skills training or would you like a refresher?  Then this communication skills training session is for you!

Symptom Management Advance Practice

This training is suitable for registered Healthcare professionals working at Enhanced and Advanced level of practice (band 6 and above) supporting patients with terminal and long-term conditions receiving palliative and end of life care.

Funded places are available for colleagues in Leeds Community Healthcare and Leeds Primary Care Teams.

The programme will be based on the following training sessions:

Symptom Management Breathlessness and Fatigue in Palliative Care

Advance Practice Care in the Last Days of Life

This training is suitable for registered healthcare professionals working at enhanced and advanced level of practice (band 6 and above) supporting patients with terminal and long-term conditions receiving palliative and end of life care.

Funded places are available for colleagues in Leeds Community Healthcare and Leeds Primary Care Teams.

The Principles of Palliative and End of Life Care Programme (Assistive & Registration Level Training

This programme explores the key principles of palliative and of life care, improving support for people living towards the end of their life with long-term or terminal conditions.  This programme is ideal for registered healthcare professionals (band 4 and 5 or equivalent) who want to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence.

Master Class - Care and Decision Making in the Last Weeks of Life (Advanced Level Training)

National Guidance acknowledges that there is just 'one chance to get it right' when caring for individuals at the end of life. This study day allows senior healthcare professionals to come together to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting individuals and their families during the final days of life.
